Kyle & Amy
Killeavy Castle

My husband and I first met...Online..how all good romances start now lol

  1. How did your first kiss happen?

I used to have a theory that the guy should have always kissed you by at least the third date, it took Kyle until the fourth date but he was obviously worth the wait!

  2. Tell us about your journey to finding your dress. How many dresses did you try on? Did you end up going for the style you had imagined?

I honestly lost count of the dresses I tried on!!

My dress journey wasn’t an easy one I was 4 shops down and had lost all hope. Because I was looking for a dress during COVID (booo) I was only ever able to bring 2 people to my appointments which meant my little sister hadn’t seen me try on any dresses. After shop number 4 I booked an appointment with the lovely girls in La Boda Banbridge with my only intention being to try on dresses to show my little sister and my dress was the first one I tried on! It was a strange feeling..not so much of it being ‘the one’ but more I felt like me. It was the most special experience that I was so privileged to share with my Mum and Sister and I will always be thankful for that.

  3. Describe your dress

So my mum wanted lace, glitz and glam and I preferred a plainer more understated gown so needless to say it was a struggle.

However the dress I fell in love with was the Adrienne by Pronovias which had a beautiful mermaid cut with draping on the front and a cut out back detail. I had seen so many dresses at the point but the Adrienne just incorporated everything I was looking for, understated but memorable, classic but different.

The dress was also made my own by a handmade embellishment insert by the lovely Linda Kilpatrick!

Your bridesmaids were there to make your day as amazing and easy as possible. Who was the most organised out of your Bride Tribe? All of my girls made my day the best it ever could have been but a special mention to Hannah & Cassie for always pulling out the stops for me at every opportunity!

  1. Who walked you down the aisle? My Dad (or Papa Penguin as he preferred that day)

  2. Emotions were running high particularly when…..

I forgot to open Kyle’s gift to me until the moment we were about to leave the house (typical of me)!

Kyle had bought me the most thoughtful gifts, a bottle of Jo Malone engraved with the date of our wedding, which he likes to remind me he drove all the way to crumlin for! And a beautiful plaque with the lyrics of Frankie Valli ‘I love you Baby’. For context Kyle would sing this song to me and substitute Baby for Amy so the plaque had my name substituted in the lyrics. It was one of the most thoughtful things I had ever received so needless to say the tears began to flow. These were quickly stopped however by my Mum who reminded us all we weren’t allowed to cry after the make up artists had left!

  3. Did you have any surprises planned during the day? Or did you get surprised by anything?Kyle had said to me for weeks before the wedding he thought I should do a speech but didn’t think I would. So as I surprise I wrote a speech (poem) for that day and I think he was very surprised! We also had some surprise fireworks for our guests!

Are you going on a honeymoon? If so, where and why?

We decided against a big honeymoon because we’re currently building a house! However Kyles Mum and Dad very kindly got us a two night stay in the Galgorm after the wedding and before we headed to London for a long weekend.

  1. Apart from getting married to your fiancé, what were you most looking forward to on your wedding day?I think I was most looking forward to everything coming together finally and to have all the people that mean the most to me in the same room!

  2. Were your shoes and accessories easy to find? Or are where they a labour of love to find?Anyone that knows me knows I like clothes and shoes but refuse to spend lots on them! My shoes were a £20 steal on ASOS and my earrings were from AliExpress so I definitely kept the purse strings tight on them!

  3. What song did you have your first dance to?Sapphire - Love Grows

What was one of the best things about having Chris as your photographer?

Chris was just so easy going!!

He truly made the whole day a memorable experience and managed to get photos we don’t even remember of moments we now won’t forget!

We can’t thank him or recommend him enough!

  1. Tell me about your flowers. Is there a reason you went for what you did, or was it all for the colour scheme?

I think I should start by saying I am still OBSESSED with my flowers by the lovely Myrtle & Thorn! I had asked Sarah for something abit different as I loved the look of King Proteas for some drama and anemones to tie in with the boys suits (my Mum and I love flowers) . I cannot explain how beyond my expectations those flowers were!!

They were so beautiful I have them sent to be preserved so I can keep a part of the day with me forever.

  2. What was your biggest challenge when planning your wedding?

I think when planning a wedding TikTok and Pinterest can be your best friend but also your worst enemy. I was always afraid of finding something better or something nicer so found it hard to commit to anything at the start. I soon realised that the wedding was less about the flowers and the cake and all those little things (that no one really sees) and more about the love I have for the man I was vowing in front of God to love and cherish for aslong as I live.

Your wedding should be about YOU.

All in a day, you’ve went from Miss to Mrs. Was the whole day a dreamy blur or can you remember every part vividly?A complete fever dream. We both have said since the wedding watching our video (by the lovely Kathryn) and seeing Chris’ beautiful photos we both feel like we’re looking at the future!!

  1. Did you receive any funny well wishes or compliments? We received so many lovely well wishes and compliments!! The funniest however had to have been the speech from my Dad!

  2. What was a particularly memorable moment of the day? (Apart from getting married of course!)

Kyle and I both talk about nearing the end of the night and the band playing the YMCA. We were all up with our nearest and dearest, laughing and dancing. We both remember just soaking in how happy everyone was and how happy we were. It was truly magical.

I’d love to hear about the vendors you used! Where did you get your dress? Your veil, jewellery, shows, accessories? Bridesmaid dresses? Suits? Car hire? Makeup and hair? Catering?

  1. What was the best (or worst!) bit of wedding planning advice you received?

The best probably came from Kyle which was ‘There’s no point stressing about it, the day is going to come wether you stress or not’. I married a very wise man.

  2. Did you receive any pieces of advice in regard to married life that you’d like to pass on?

A lovely lady at our wedding party told us both ‘Marriage is like a bank..you get out of it what you put in’.
